A Bluebird Day in Poulsbo, Washington

I’ll admit it, I had some hesitation about doing a morning gig. I was worried no one would show and we’d play to an empty room. I was delighted to be wrong. We had an smashing excursion to beautiful downtown Poulsbo to play the 25th birthday party for Verksted Gallery — yes, there was cake — and we had a nice turn out from the uke-curious population of the Hood Canal side of the Olympic Peninsula. You couldn’t ask for a prettier day or a friendlier audience or a more gracious host.

Thanks for staying for the second set, Verksted fans!

I’m hoping we’ve set the template for all our away games. Start with coffee and treats at Top Pot, a Seattle institution, take a ride on the ferry on an perfect blue sky banner of a day, play for a fun and welcoming crowd, eat amazing food (get the chili relleno at the Paella Bar, it’s unbelievable, and go ahead, get a second pitcher of sangria) and, oh, yeah, have a great time making music. Rock on, Poulsbo, and thanks for blowing my low expectations right out of the water. –Pam

Ferry weather doesn't get any better than this.
